Buy in Bulk?
I recently moved to NJ from Chicago area. Back home there's stores called The Home Economist owned by John B Sanfillipo (Sanfillipo Nuts) with locations in Skokie, Westmont and Elk Grove Village.
They sell sundry 'gourmet' items (mustards, teas, cheeses, etc) but the bulk (no pun intended) of their items is nuts, grains, candy, pasta, snacks, spices sold in bulk, by the pound. Wonderful if you only want a 1/4 cup of couscous or need 3# of oat bran or have a jones for pumpkin seeds or Jelly Bellys or just want to get different colored sugar or sprinkles for cookies/cupcakes.
My question to you:
Is there any place similar to it in New Jersey/New York that is designed for the home consumer & isn't a big-hassle wholesaler?
Thanks for any info.
Here's an info/review page from YELP to give an idea of what I'm looking for:
If you want NJ information, you have to post over on that board.
For Manhattan, a lot of stores do bulk, I think. Fairway upstairs (74th location) has a whole bulk section. All the healthfood stores in my neighborhood (UWS) have bulk sections, though much smaller than Fairway's. I would think stores in other neighborhoods have that as well.
