Bogle Phantom at Trader Joes

Yesterday, February 14th, I was shopping at Trader Joes (the one at Rolling Hills on Western) and persuing the wines when I notice bottles of the 05 Bogle Phantom @ $15.99. (good priced considering I usually get them around $20/bottle. I purchased a case. I think there's still some left in various Trader Joes, however, when I called around today to see if any are still available, two of the stores already told me either they have sold out or whatever bottles they have left or put on hold. I managed to get another case at the Torrance store, located on Hawthorne Blvd (southern California).

  1. That is a huge score! I wish I lived out there to grab some up. I love this wine and try to get enough to get me to Memorial Day weekend when I start grilling. The cheapest I was able to get it was $17 in Connecticut. Nice job!

    1. I don't understand how Bogle is able to maintain this false "rarity" of the Bogle Phantom, while i agree it is good wine they make like 20,000 cases a year........good job on maintaining the myth Bogle!

It isn't so much that "rarity" means they don't make a lot. The thing is that it sells out very quickly in many areas. In SoCal the distributor makes one delivery to retailers and then their stock is usually gone.

It's the same deal in CT. One shot and it's an allocated item which means unless you do big business with that company, your chances of getting more than 4 cases is slim.

      2. The TJ's on Masonic in San Francisco has yet to have the Phantom in stock.
