Great Port in LA

I'm tired of going to restaurants with fabulous and extensive wine lists only to find they have maybe a bottle or three of vintage or tawny port at best.

What restaurants in LA have the best selections of port? By the glass is always preferred, but by the bottle is worthwhile as well. I don't mind the style of food, though I would hope for good food, but mainly want to find interesting and uncommon ports to try and enjoy.

Last good port I remember having in LA was a Cockburn 83 at Chinois many months ago, and an interesting colheita(I think it was Quinta de la Rosa) at Patina over a year ago. I can't be the only fan of port in LA, thanks for any recommendations.

  1. The first place that comes to mind is Valentino Restaurant in Santa Monica. I am not specifically aware of their selection of ports, but they have one of the most extensive wine lists in the state (if not the country).

Have you thought about simply BYOB'ing your port? That way you could get exactly what you want to drink while only paying the corkage and being able to take the bottle home with you for futher comsumption.
