Baking fish question

Hi, I am planning on baking a whole red snapper. I have used this recipe before, which calls for baking the 2 lb fish for 30 min.

Here's my question: if I instead bake two of these 2 lb fish, do I do it for the same amount of time, or do I double the cooking time? I'm guessing its somewhere in between.

Absolutely! If the two fish are not crowded and the oven is properly pre-heated, don't add any extra time (or maybe one minute if you're afraid). The biggest risk is over cooking. And to me 30 minutes sounds like a tad too much.

If you have a reliable oven, preheated fully, and you don't crowd the fish together in the same dish, your cooking time won't be much more than what's specified for the one.

Gotcha. I will put them in two separate dishes. Thanks a lot.

I agree with dmd....shouldn't be a problem with same cooking times.....but just to add, when it comes to fish....I never pay that close attention to the required cooking times....just keep an eye on the fish. They let you know when they're done.

I wouldn't double the time - I would check after 30 minutes, and then go from there.
