I need a dessert idea...

My husband has had the week from hell at work and I'm making him a special meal tonight to make up for it. He loves soup, so I'm making him Vegetable Beef Soup with home made rosemary foccacia bread.

However, I'm getting stuck for an idea. Here's what I've got:

3 eggs
Brown and white sugars
flour
sour cream
cocoa powder
chocolate chips
almonds
Butter
Baking soda
Baking powder
Molassas

I suppose I could just make chocolate chip cookies, which I know he loves. But I'd like to make something REALLY special.

Any thoughts?

PECAN PIE!!!. Top it with some blended sourcream and brown sugar.

Ages ago I was recommended the Mancatcher Brownies here at CH and they've been a staple "cheer up the honey" treat ever since:

They're super rich and the recipe halves well if you don't need a 13x9 pan of brownies.

I just made a batch of fudgy brownies that my husband loves. I think you've got all the ingredients you need.

        Fudgy Brownies

        1 stick butter
        1/3 cup cocoa
        1 cup granulated sugar
        2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract (oops! Do you have this?)
        1/2 cup flour
        1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped almonds (or any other nuts)

Melt the butter in a the microwave or on stovetop. Add cocoa, then sugar until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well to blend. Add vanilla. Mix in flour and salt. Fold in nuts. Turn out into an 8" square buttered pan. Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
I usually don't frost these, but you could melt some of the chocolate chips, allow it to cool slightly, then stir in sour cream.

I'll make this. I had originally wanted brownies, but my usual recipe calls for four eggs. Thank you!

Men love pudding. Can you turn any of that into pudding? I'm not much of a baker. Really-men LOVE pudding- I took a poll at a party once. However, the first thing I thought of reading your list was biscotti. It's good dunked in chocolate. Or pudding.

Use the cocoa to make a sour cream chocolate cake. Use the chips to make a chocolate buttercream frosting. If you're only having soup and bread for dinner, you more than deserve the calories in a rich cake!

I love the cake idea. I'd use sour cream and chocolate chips to make a rich fudgy frosting. I like yellow cake with it but a chocolate cake is good, too.

As decadent cakes go, this deep chocolate sour cream pound cake is great.

I've used espresso powder in it, too.

Does anything really beat a good Chocolate Chip Cookie....unless it's one with some nuts on top?

The REALLY special already comes from your heart!

Awwww! A hearty "Right on!" to your entire post, but particularly the last sentence.

Just as a twist, you can make tollhouse cookie pie out of those ingredients. Even you don't have a crust, it's still a bit of a different spin on an old fave if that's what you're after.

Have a great weekend...I hope all the home-cooked goodies help melt away your husband's hellish week.
