Marliave Lunch Recs

cassoulady Feb 13, 2009 08:41 AM

I am heading to the Marliave tomorrow for a late lunch and some drinks, any suggestions of what to order- anyone had the chowder? As it is day time, we will be eating downstairs. Thanks for any tips or highlights.

The Mrs. Marliave (basically a croque madame) is decadent fun, and I like their burger and fries as well. The chowder is great if you're looking for something a bit lighter.

thanks, I love a croque madame, and valentines day is as good an excuse to be decadent as any.

Oysters, burger, and rarebits are all very good. The meatball sliders you really should try as they are outstanding. Stay away from the pizza.

Have not had the chowder. Had the burger twice (very very good) and had the croque Monsieur (please pardon my spelling, this is from memory) -- the ham and cheese sandwich. Thought that was excellent also.

chowder is excellent, deconstructed, the chowder itself is I would say on the heavier end in that there's a good bit of cream but it has a good clam flavor that goes very well with the clams and the pieces of pork belly. Really nice for fighting back a cold day.
