Buying Duck Breasts in Brooklyn?
Any suggestions on where to buy duck breasts, preferably in Park Slope or Sunset Park? I've seen whole ducks in Chinatown. I'm thinking maybe Union Market carries them, but they're so overpriced for everything - any other ideas?
I haven't been for a while, but the key food on 5th used to carry the d'artagnan duck breasts and legs (and confit) they weren't terribly overpriced, for d'artagnan.
otherwise, you could try that new asian market in sunset park that is mentioned in a recent thread.

Both Los Paisanos and Staubitz in Boerum / Cobble Hill carry duck breast. Don't know of any places in Park Slope or Sunset Park.

You can obtain cut up duck pieces (legs or breast) from the larger butchers in the sunset Park Chinatown , especially by prior arrangement. - I have asked before but never done it. I was actually looking for legs, not breast.

Yup, as oolah said, both carry and I've been happy with the product at both. I tend to prefer Los Paisanos over Staubitz as I think the service is much friendlier and more accommodating.
Also, if you plan to confit, I got an amazing deal on fresh duck fat from Los Paisanos last time we made Cassoulet. Got a big fresh quart of it for like 5 or 6 bucks (compared to paying about the same amount for a tiny frozen container of D'Artagnan duck fat).

Staubitz on Court Street has Duck Breat..maigret de Canard. IIRC, last year they had Muscovy Duck Breasts and other wild duck.
I prepare them in a Citrus/Soy/Ginger marinade, and grill.

5th Ave Key Food has most of the D'Artagnan line most of the time. This continues to amaze me.
Union Market, as you suspect, has them sometimes
and the Park Slope Food Co-op has them, but you have to be a member of course.
In Sunset Park Chinatown, Hong Kong Market has butchers on duty - pretty sure duck is one of their standards.

Thanks y'all! I bought them at Key Food, and later discovered that Union Market has them at the same price. Next time I'll go to Chinatown.
