Francis Mallman 1884 in Mendoza Argentina--gone downhill? Other dining recs too
Along with another couple we will be staying in Mendoza at Cavas Wine Lodge at the end of March for 4 nights.
We were originally planning on eating at Francis Mallman's 1884, but I have heard mixed things about it recently (In particular that all the food was way too salty). We have the option one night of eating there, at the restaurant at Club Tapiz, or at La Bourgogne (Azafran is not included in our package, or we would eat there). Any thoughts on which to chose?
Here is our tentative itinerary the hotel put together for us. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!
Arrival day 1: dinner at Cavas
Day 2: Wine tour - Achaval Ferrer, lunch at Melipal, Carinae; Dinner at Bistro M
Day 3: White Water Rafting; Dinner Cooking Class at Cavas
Day 4: Wine tasting tbd, hopefully with lunch at Ruca Malen; Dinner choice of 1884, tapiz, or la bourgone
We had dinner at Francis Mallman in October. It was fantastic. We ate outside in the garden and everything was cooked to perfection.
Their wine list is to die for as they must have a bottle of everything ever produced in Argentina.
Things may have changed in the last few months but I can't rave enough about the service atmosphere and food presentation on the night we were there.
