Late Late Valentine's Dinner SM/Venice Area?
My wife and I are going to a concert Saturday night in Santa Barbara. So it's either a rushed dinner before the show with the early bird crowd, or a 10ish dinner in SB shadowed by the necessity of a drive home I'm not looking forward to, or an after midnight dinner back here.
Can anyone suggest a decent and somewhat Valentine-appropriate restaurant in the Santa Monica/Venice area open past midnight?

Hal's Bar and Grill in Venice on Abbott Kinney might be perfect for your needs. Their website says their kitchen stays open until 2 a.m. seven days a week. Pacific Dining Car has a location on Wilshire in Santa Monica that is open until the very wee hours (I don't know if it is 24/7 anymore) but it is very expensive, and many on this board seem to enjoy their breakfast items better than the steak dinners. How late is the kitchen at The Aresenal on Pico open? They have surprisingly good food, though its probably going to be too cold for a patio. Other than that you have diners and delis.

re: nosh
Pacific Dining Car is open 24/7 (but always call in advance, because both the SM and the downtown location will occasionally close in the wee hours for a heavy-duty cleaning). It is expensive, but if you order simple things simply prepared and finish with the apple ice cream or chocolate soufflé, you usually get your money's worth and more.

My husband and I had a lovely dinner at the World Cafe in Santa Monica years ago. It is open late, and has a lovely atrium that you could probably get reservations for because it's later that night. Loved the lobster ravioli. It's down the street from Chinois on Main.
