Boise Idaho Rec

I have been meaning to post this rec for sometime. I had dinner at the Gamekeeper in the Owyhee again this week and want to report it is still an excellent option in Boise. The dining room is attractive, the service excellent, and everything we ordered was very good. The salads and soups (French Onion and Shrimp Bisque) are excellent. The entrees we ordered included scallops, duck and lamb. All were good...but the scallops excellent. The menu has lots of steak...some of it prime. There is nothing cutting edge about the Gamekeeper...just well prepared, high quality food with some of the best service we have found in Boise.

  1. Dig the Gamekeeper Lounge. Very relaxing, and the music played is right up my alley (the music at Chandler's, by comparison, is a little too nu-jazz for my tastes). Never bothered to eat there. Ever had the venison there? That's what I'd be most curious about. I know they're big on steaks and steak options, but I'd rather go to a place like Lock, Stock & Barrel or Emilio's for steak since they carry the local, wagyu-ish beef of Snake River Farms.

Sorry, haven't tried the venison. However, I have yet to have a bad meal there. If you try it let me know what you think. And thanks for mentioning the lounge...we enjoy that as well!

    2. Thank you for the report :)
