Has anyone tried Banq's "bailout menu", which they are offering Sun-Thurs from 5:30-7:30? Any recs?
I went last nite and it's one of the best meals I've had lately. I went without big expectations cuz I'm not the biggest Asian fusion fan in the world so maybe that helped. Started off with a cocktail she made from descriptions of others I saw on the drink menu, vodka, lychee and ginger and that was very good. Mini naans with maybe a red pepper spread were great. I had the mussels in a broth that had some bite and Indian style spices. Lots of mussels and so much broth gone to waste (I should have brought it home and bought a baguette for the next day). Friend had the beet salad w/ chevre (I think) and liked that. i went with roast chicken but not any old chicken. It had a great crust to it, again with some spice. Taro and something cake and little green beans, very tasty. She had sea bass. We both got a glass of grüner and it was nice (and surprising) to see most glasses were <$10. I think there were 3 apps, 4-6 entrees and 3 desserts. I was intrigued by the pumpkin/choc cheesecake but that got the bartender's 3rd place vote. I got the apple tarte tatin which was quite nice but the cinnamon ice cream really put it over the top. Espresso and regular mini creme brulees were very good. I personally didn't think the lemon sorbet made sense with it but DC polished it off. That room is so cool, those little cubbies for 6-8 people would make the perfect space for a small party. I'm tempted to go back before they take that special away.
