shipping homemade truffles?
I am making a batch of homemade bergamot-infused truffles to send to a special someone. Problem is, he lives far far away and I must resort to FedEx overnight to get them to him. Does anyone have experience shipping homemade truffles long distances? Any ideas about how best to pack and mail them? Is dry ice a necessity? I know it's the thought that counts, but I'd like to avoid having him open a box of melted brown goo, if at all possible.
Thanks so much!
i've made lots of chocolates for friends last month. I don't think you have to next day them if you and your friends place (and in between) is cooler than 70 deg. Pack in a nice truffle box and wrap in bubble or paper then the shipping box.
I think dry ice is a bit too cold for this application. i think some regular jelly blue ice will work fine for couple days in a enclosed box.
someone told me to pick a shipper with a lighter color truck- white fedex, yellow DHL, not brown when shipping.
Good luck! and.... can i have some? the chocolates sounds great!
