I am a HUGE advocate of the Inn and agree with the others...they will do (graciously) whatever they can to make your visit as wonderful as possible. The menu has a great variety but they will adjust it to your tastes. Dh and I are going there in the spring and I am looking forward to it.

I am not a huge fan of The Inn: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/168062 At his best Patrick O'Connell has as much talent as anyone in the United States. Our experience has been The Inn's inconsistency at what now is $148 prix fixe on weeknights and $178 prix fixe on Saturday with a $450 chef's table suppliment and what I think are extraordinary markups on wine. Has it changed since I wrote that? I hope so. But over the years the comments about The Inn as shown in the response to what I wrote over five years ago have been uneven. At one point The Inn lost its fourth star from The Post but has since regained it. Still, for what today is a $600 dinner on a Saturday (assuming $100 for a bottle of wine which would be one of the much cheaper ones) and $850 per couple at the Chef's Table (assuming four people) there is absolutely no margin for error. After four tries including two birthdays and an anniversary we gave up.
Please note my comments (and the response to what I wrote) about the "alcove" or the "hallway."

You order from the prix fixe menu, but there are lots of choices, and they will probably be very accommodating of special requests. My wife and daughter are both officially picky eaters and have no trouble finding things they like. If you have any special requests, by all means let them know ahead of time if possible. You are the guest and you're in charge. I've never seen a restaurant that takes that dictum more seriously. Enjoy!
As an aside, once upon a time we ordered a room service meal there for my daughter. It was the best plate of macaroni and cheese she's ever had, but also the most expensive. Now she happily eats with us on the special occasions we can make it to the Inn.

I couldn't agree with you more! They really will do WHATEVER they can for their guests. We went a little more than a year ago without any notice - I happened to have my cavalier king charles with me and they don't accept dogs so they put him in this little house that is part of their property! They had fans in there for him so it wouldn't be too warm, they gave us the key to check in on him during the night , they also made up these little treats for him...I mean who does this? During dinner they had the a.c on (it was summer) and it was freezing in there, all of the sudden someone is wrapping this throw around my shoulders, too funny. By the way, if you like oatmeal cookies, theirs are great plus they give you some to take up to your room. Forgot to mention they also gave us six to take with us because we liked them so much at no cost.
