Dinner spots in Pasadena

We're tired of eating at the same restaurants every time we visit. We're not averse to driving downtown for dinner, but would definitely like to exhaust the more local options before we make the trek.

Daisy Mint is on our list so far... could anyone please make some other suggestions?

    Try Dereks in Pasadena

    Small, intimate, good food.

Thank you for all the suggestions so far. I know it was a really open ended question. I purposefully didn't put any likes/dislikes/parameters because we are a group with pretty diverse tastes, and willing to try other things, as long as they are good. In particular, any suggestion for a place where you can't go wrong nomatter what you order is very much appreciated, since I want to make sure the entire group has a good dining experience.

So far, our staples have been Sushi Roku, Hurry Curry, and Cafe Barcelona (no more- has gone way downhill), with the occasional foray into Hollywood.

In Pasadena/South Pas: Mike & Anne's, Malbec, Green Street Tavern (as opposed to Green Street Restaurant), Oba (sweet newish izakaya place on Glenarm near Arroyo), Tonny's (modest but excellent Mexican), Cafe Verde on Green (BYOB) and, if you can afford it, the Langham.

In the surrounding area, Three Drunken Goats and Bashan in Montrose, Fatty's in Eagle Rock (vegetarian food that we carnivores love), the Kitchen in Alhambra.

Consider Bistro 45 - some mixed reviews elsewhere on the board, but they seem to care and to try hard. Owner is ever present and wants you to be pleased.

What kind of food interests you? Are you willing to make the 10- 15-minute drive to Alhambra, San Gabriel for the various Asian offerings? 10-minutes east on the 210 to Monvrovia for a Cuban Bakery (Merengue), an Empanadas place (Empanadas Gourmet), or Peach Tree Cafe?

We tend to dine a lot (or get take out from):
              - Daisy Mint
              - Central Park (Cafe)
              - Le Grande Orange
              - The Oinkster in Eagle Rock
              - Eagle Rock Italian Bakery and Deli
              - Fatty's (vegetarian and vegan) in Eagle Rock
              - The Original Tops (east Pasadena)
              - Europane (bakery)
              - Tutti Frutti (fruit salads, smoothies, etc. - also Columbian hot dogs)
              - Sandwiches from Zephyr
              - New Delhi Palace (their vegetarian offerings)
              - Big Momma's Rib Shack
              - Orean Health Express
              - Gale's Italian

Have heard good things about (but have yet to make it to):
              - Madeline's
              - Green Street Restaurant
              - Malbec
              - Cafe Verde

              Edited to Add:
              - Tonny's on Orange Grove
              - A Salvadoran place on Lake Avenue - I think that Will Owen has a post on this board about it.

you didn't really place any parameters/likes/dislikes, but I'll throw out a few of my faves

                  Cafe Bizou in Old Town
Cafe Sanrtorini in Old Town (awesome mediterranean food)
                  Central Park
                  Mike & Anne's
Matsuri (Japanese food) on Green St.

The Langham Dining Room for high end dining. Chef Strong's food is awesome. He has a personalized tasting menu based on what you want. Super!
