Bar/Club to host an event near Moscone Convention Center?

Hi everyone!

I work for a company out on the east coast and we're going to be in SF in a couple months for a convention at the Moscone Convention center. I'm in charge of finding a bar/restaurant that we can rent a space in for an event we're throwing.

Could you give any advice for what a good restaurant/bar/club is for events (but also super convenient/within walking distance to the convention center)?

Thanks!

Thirsty Bear was more or less designed to solve this problem. Spanishy/tapasy
food and homebrew beer. Beer is good, food has had its ups and downs (and I
haven't been there in a long while so I don't know anything usefully recent on that
front). It is about as superconvenient to Moscone as you can get

        Thanks for the suggestion!

I called up Thirsty Bear and The Roe and they're both booked. Are there any other suggestions you guys have?

        Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly what kind of event you're needing to do. Restaurant Roe might fit the bill nicely. A restaurant and nightclub that is available for corporate events.

do not go to Roe. we hosted an event there and the food was terrible. our CEO almost spit out his food on the server because it was so bad.

Try Bong Su, contemporary Vietnamese/Asian with decent food, small plates as well as family style.

Both Samovar & B Restaurant in Yerba Buena Gardens are both great "secret" places and its not really possible to be any closer to Moscone They have big patios and nice calming views overlooking the gardens & fountains.

Jillian's at the Metreon is cheesy but has space that can be rented for events. Kind of a nicer pool-hall / sports bar feel.

Press Club is a beautiful space and great location for groups if you're looking to do a wine related event. It basically has 8 wineries in one chic tasting room.

Tropisueno is a mexican restaurant that recently opened up nearby. It doesn't seem like they do super-strong evening business and I'm guessing they could be open to a buy-out for a group event.

Bong Su at 3rd and Folsom is one block away and perfect for an event. I went there during a conference last fall and it went very well.

We held an event at Two a few months ago, and it was a lovely space. 111 Minna may also be an option.
