Fresh Mozzarella Arthur Avenue

abu applesauce Feb 10, 2009 10:51 AM

Does anyone know the name and/or address of the fresh mozz place on Arthur Avenue? I might make a pilgrimage this weekend.
I went to Leo's/Mama's in Corona last week for the first time in months and decided I need to devote more of my free time to food!
Thanks

Although I like Casa della Mozzarella's the best, you could actually pick up a few fresh examples (at Casa, Calandra's, Mike's Deli - and I think Tino's makes their own, too) and do a taste test. :)

Had a fresh, warm lightly salted mozz from Casa just this weekend, and it was great - also picked up a chunk of a torta de gorgonzola and mascarpone from there (imported, I think), which was incredibly good.

You also would want to try this place :Calandra Cheese Co.
Italian cheese shop on Arthur Avenue that makes its own traditional ricotta, mozzarella, scamorza and caciocavello. The Mozzarella as I have had it from there is decent but the other cheeses are really great. . Ya may want to buy your Mozz at Casa della... and continue down to Calandras for the other types.

That would be casa della mozzarella. It's on 187th street between Arthur Ave and Hughes Ave. It's so delicious, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

It's fantastic--another vote for Casa Della Mozzarella. But in Queens, Sorriso's in Astoria is fabulous, too.
