have we gone too far?

  1. Well, I was hungry before I looked at this but now I am a bit queasy. Some of those are downright disgusting.

    1. I saw this yeaterday, and my conclusion was that it is a joke.

At least the turbaconducken was real; I have seen that elsewhere in a more obviously reliable site.

And I have had the cheesecake on a stick. It was actually rather good.

        1. re: jmckee

I've had Turducken before. It's pretty good, though more for the gimmick. Anyone who watches Thanksgiving football (or used to rather) knows that Madden had one every year. Now covering it bacon? That is new to me...and brilliant.

        2. re: roxlet

I don't think it's a joke at all. Here is a link to a place in my neighborhood and a burger they dare people to eat. Looks pretty tame compared to most on the site posted, though.

          1. re: danhole

And don't forget The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo and their free 72 oz steak! It's a trip.

          2. re: roxlet

The deep fried Mars bar is definitely real... I have been known to put the creme sides of 2 double stuf oreos together to make quadruple stufs, so the mega stuf oreo makes sense (kind of). And sadly, The Double Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt looks very tasty to me right now.

            1. re: mpjmph

I've actually had the deep fried Mars bar---it's really decadent. I've also had deep fried Oreos and deep fried Twinkies. They're getting popular at street fairs in NYC. I try not to eat them more than once every other year and I usually share it with somebody.

As for a Krispy Creme burger, Paula Deen had made "The Lady's Breakfast Sandwich." It was sausage, ham, bacon, eggs, I think cheese on a glazed doughnut and then deep fried. My arteries were clogging just looking at it.

              1. re: MrsT

I've had a deep fried Mars bar and a deep fried Twinkie, both at the NC State Fair (different years though!). The Mars bar was pretty good, decadent as you said. I really didn't enjoy the Twinkie though, it lost its inherent Twinkie-ness, the creme melted into the cake and the cake was indistinguishable from the batter. This year I'm going for the fried Reese's cups.

Have you seen Paula Deen's Krispy Kreme bread pudding? As much as I love KK original glazed, a dozen tossed with condensed milk and fruit cocktail is just too much.

                1. re: mpjmph

I wanted to try the deep fried Moon Pie at the NC State Fair last fall, but missed it. There's always this year!

              2. re: mpjmph

Yea. I am definitely making a Double Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt in the very near future. It speaks to me.

              3. re: roxlet

Not a joke at all. The Krispy Kreme burger is actually pretty popular. I've heard about a lot of these things over the year. A lot were developed as gimmicks for state fairs and the like.

Almost everything there made me kinda nauseous.

                1. re: roxlet

                  It's not a joke. It's a gift from heaven.

                2. Just like a car wreck.

The oreo was sort of amusing.

                  1. I sure hope people are sharing some of those dishes, I can't imagine how any one person can eat an 120 ounce steak. That's just being retarded.

                      1. Where's the double bacon cheeseburger using a Krispy Kreme glazed donut in place of a bun?

I always thought eating was at least in part about pleasure. How is pleasing to eat so much food at one sitting. Probably why I don't get competitive eating or "Man v Food." What a waste.

                          1. re: annabana

I can't watch stuff like competitive eating or Man v Food. It's just disgusting, pointless and as stupid as things can get. I'd rather watch golf on TV. (And if you know anything about me at all, you know there is nothing lower on my personal totem pole than golf on TV.)

                          2. re: JohnE O

I saw it on there. Well, I'm not sure if it was a double burger, but it was a bacon cheeseburger.

                            1. re: danhole

How very close to Jim Gaffigan's "Donut Ham Hamburger."

                            2. re: JohnE O

The donut burger is there. Also, Paula Deen made a donut burger on her show... It did NOT look good..

                            3. Wow! These are real dishes... It's obvious some of the photos are "one-offs" meaning a bunch of people just made something outrageous (like the 60 # rice crispy treat, the super-filled orea and the bacon turducken) or influenced by the low-carb dieters, but a lot of the stuff looks like fair food or actual restaurant food.

I hate to admit that at least 70% of that stuff I'd be willing to try. However, mixing sweets with savory just don't interest me... Donut burger... yuck!

                              1. Funny I listed the same site yester day too under Gluttony or Chow. Let's read each others.
                                Great minds think alike,

And i'll say the same thing on this thread: there is lead in the water and the republic is doomed. What's next, vomitoriums? I love good eats, high and low end, of all kinds, but this has nothing to with the pure enjoyment of good food.

                                  1. re: annabana

I'll join you w/ my fiddle!

                                    1. re: annabana

Oh this is definitely about pure enjoyment. Good food? Maybe not. Pure enjoyment all the way though. I am a firm believer in bacon and deep frying anything. Eating as much of it as some of these dishes imply I do not find appetizing, but eating some of it not only sounds delicious, it is (I have eaten some of the things here as well as things that would qualify).

                                  2. Wow. Not sure if it's a joke or not, but I think someone's just trying to be "cute" or do a one up on something.

As a sidenote, I caught an episode of Diners Drive-Ins and Dives the other day, and Guy the host was, I think, at Gizzard City?? not sure if I have that right...but anyway, he DEEP-FRIED A BURGER....as in put in an ENTIRE dressed burger, buns, pickles, et al and then battered and deep fried it. It was both the most disgusting and secretly delicious thing I've ever seen.

I would SO try that if I saw it on the menu somewhere...and if those who knew me heard me say that, they'd never believe it....

Wow. Thanks, Dani. I didn't realize how much I wanted to see that again until I just did. I'd love to try it!!

                                    2. I'd eat the Loosiana Gator Dog in a second.

Oh motherf-in' hells yea. Some of the items are pure gross out, but most are delicious sounding foods that happen to be rather unhealthy.

                                      2. Those foods aren't why people are fat. Not in and of themselves. It's because some dolt will seek out and try them all. They also won't bother to get any exercise. Really decadent, fatty, deliciously sinful foods don't make you fat. At least, not if you eat them in moderation. A poor diet and lack of exercise does.

And for the record, IMHO some of those things were made up just for that piece.

Guns don't kill people , people do.
                                          Same logic.

If you look at the link I posted at the top of this thread, it shows this monster burger and fries. You have to eat the entire burger and all the fries and then you get on the Burger Wall of fame, and get to keep the plate - whoopee. Well, if you look through the many, many pages of the people that have met the challenge you will see that the majority of them are pretty darn big to begin with. Also look around at the AYCE places. Lots of large folks there, too. Not saying everyone is, but just supporting DT's point.

                                          2. No. We have not. That site is my new favorite site. I love good food, but I also greasy, fried, bad-for-you food and this site is an altar to that. Some of them I have actually tried. A lot of the remind of things my roommates and I did in college. Some are clearly over the top just for the sake of it, but some actually sound tasty to me. Krispy Kreme burgers are surprisingly tasty, Lousiana gator dogs sound good, King Cakes are fabulous, Garbage plates can be good (the right combo is key), french fry encased hot dog! I love it and plan on trying a few out for myself. Though the site is a little deceiving as being fat is more about lifestyle than eating those things once in awhile. Now if those foods are your diet...oh boy.

totally with you on the french fry encased hot dog!

And well, the way I see it, a French Fry encased hot dog is actually diet food because you're foregoing the bun, chili and cheese :-)

                                                1. re: chicaraleigh

You're also limiting your fry intake to the quantity that can encircle the hot dog :)

                                              1. OMG the meatloaf with the mac and cheese in the middle!!
I will have to try that!...the heart attack sandwich looks prety darn good too (I never knew there was "chicken fried BACON!!!!!)
Actually allot of it is looking good to me right now - I must be really hungry!
