Desperate need of a suggestion for this weekend

Lazar Feb 9, 2009 12:35 PM

I am going to be in downtown Montreal this weekend for a romantic getaway...however, it has been quite some time since I last visited the city, much less ate there.

Looking for some reco's on a good restaurant. My general limitations are no vegetarian, mid range price (so that strikes Queue de Cheval off the list), some good variety on the menu, and a healthy selection of wine.

My last minute go to place would be Au Pied du Cochon (love that place) but I would like to see what else is out there.

Thanks in advance

Last minute and Au Pied DE Cochon don't exactly go hand in hand. I'd say Ariel could do it. Decca77 is also a good option. I like the place a lot and it's fairly priced.

Don't forget that this weekend - Saturday, is Valentine's day and most restaurants will have grossly overpriced Table d'hote menus and shmaltzy music. So, when calling to make reservations, find out what is going for that evening. Personally you couldn't pay me enough money to go to a restaurant this Saturday.

Check my review on Ariel; It was definitely solid!

Also, Lemeac and L'Express are good bets too.

Unfortunately, Lemeac isn't downtown - but it is great. If you can venture a little outside of the downtown core, you could try calling Laloux or Pop to see if they have any tables open.
