Good Stuff at Yi Soon

I think this bakery makes remarkable stuff. One of my favorite places for sweets in all of Boston along with Modern Pastry, and Athan's.
I was prompted by another thread to start a separate one just on what is good at Yi Soon. Short answer is almost everything, the buns with Meat Floss (I am not kidding) are a bit unusual to the Western palate and some of the buns are a bit plain. The items below are real standouts, and they are numerous:
Hard to even pick favorites amongst these. Thought I do particularly love the sweet potato buns, warmed in the toaster oven for breakfast.
Sweet potato bun
Chocolate cookies with walnuts rectangular in a pack of about 10.
Sweet Cheese bun
Cream bun
Butter Bomb
Red bean mochi bun
Raisin bread, taro bread, whole wheat bread.
Plain cheesecake, subtle, amazing.
Mooncakes, many varieties, some better then others, some a bit odd to the Western palate, some just downright amazing. Don't be afraid to ask what is in them.
Egg Salad bun (savory)
Coffee bun with cream inside (in fridge near the window).
Cream puffs but only if they are VERY fresh. It is the only thing I have ever gotten there where I felt it was a bit past it's prime.
Whole wheat raisin walnut bun (they make this only rarely)
The little round fluffy lady finger cookies
Butter pound cake
Butter walnut pound cake
All of the pretty fruity cakes in the fridge, though they are sometimes not sweet enough for the Western palate.
Sticky rice in lotus leaf (savory, they don't make it often).

A big favorite of mine are the rectangular fingers of crisp puff pastry topped with sugar and sliced almonds.

this is not a sarcastic question: is the puff pastry a butter or lard product? all the puff pastry that i have had in Ctown , as in the curry beef turnovers, is lard based(as i know you well know). thnx much.

Yeah, everything there is good, though as you said, some items tend to be a little old/dry. Especially the cream parts, which don't last all that long.

I go there OFTEN and I find that anything out on the shelves is usually very fresh. Only with refrigerated cream items once or twice have I had something less than at peak freshness.

May I ask if this a Korean or Japanese or Chinese bakery?

Taiwanese.

When I was at the bakery Sunday evening, the lady behind the counter spoke Cantonese. Of course, she could be a Cantonese employee hired by a Taiwanese bakery.

We stopped by the bakery tonight for the first time. We tried two:
Coconut bun (coconut custard filling) and
Cheesecake (a light sponge cake with cheese flavor)
Both were very fresh and delicious. The best part is that they're not heavy and not excessively sweet.

My main love is the Angel Light bun, a fluffy and tender bun with a raisin and cream cheese filling.
