Bety's Tacos In Encinitas (SD)

Enorah Feb 7, 2009 06:35 PM

Hey just had a yummy carne asada dinner at Bety's tonight and found out that they are now offering delivery on Fri, Sat, & Sun.

If you have not been, Bety's is one of our favorite restaurants here in Northern San Diego County.

Favorites are:
Chile Rellenos
Carne Asada
Anything with shrimp
Mole (love the mole)
The Tinga de pollo quesadilla (chicken in a chipotle pepper sauce)
Everything really

I was in the North County area last month and, based on your recommendations, knew about Bety's. My dad and I drove up Encinitas Blvd. and sampled a pulled pork sandwich at the BBQ place across the street. Looked for Bety's in that big plaza on the north side of the street and didn't see it, either on the signs or in a quick drive through both parking lots. I had Bety's address written down, but it didn't help since the shops and restaurants in that big shopping plaza area don't seem to post addresses or be individually marked. Your assistance in terms of landmarks or neighbors would be appreciated for next time.

If you are good at throwing a baseball you could stand on the sidewalk in front of Brett's and throw it across Encinitas Blvd and it would bounce in the parking lot and roll up to the spot were Bety's is.

Please clue me in -- is Bety's out next to the blvd. or further in the mall shopping center? Does it face out on Encinitas Blvd. or perpendicular, facing El Camino Real to the west or up the other way with its rear to the coast? I take it that it is not near the auto place on that major corner intersection, but further up-east-in.

Bety's storefront faces South, in the shopping center with the 7-11 store.

Perhaps the attached photo will help. Apologies in advance for the crude mockup, but it should suffice...

I am laughing so hard right now, especially in light of the fact that we ate at Brett's tonight and the owner had never been to Bety's, so I encouraged him to go but had to point out where it was, from my table, through the window.

Cgfan, your photo is brilliant and Old Man *LOL*

Nosh, Bety's is east of el camino real just past the car dealer on the south side of Encinitas Blvd by the 7/11 and the free standing key kiosk.

I had the burger and my sweetie had the salad with the bbq chicken on top. Oh and I had yummy sweet potato fries.

I am sorry you had a hard time finding Bety's. I hope you know I was not laughing at you. You must have tried to go there while Mercury was still retrograde. Hopefully, you will find it in the future.

My kitties are wonderful, thank you, Nosh. They are both total love muffins and goofballs.

Thanks Enorah, cgfan, and littlestevie. We were looking too far east, in that big double shopping center. I will be back in the area next week -- big deal dinner will be using a gift certificate at Market. I'll see if I can get to Bety's for a lunch -- those items sound great, though I usually go for pork. I don't like beans or avocado -- do they put any in the rellanos or unlisted in any of the others? Looking forward to seeing how Bety's stacks up vs. Juanita's, where I love the al pastor, the crunchy beef taco, the carnitas (though now I know about the guac) and the spicy green salsa.

no beans in the rellanos or avocado

not sure if rellanos is on the lunch menu, but if you ask they may have it.

Based on Enorah's reco, dh and I dined at Bety's on the way home from registering for the Carlsbad 1/2 marathon. We loved it, thank you, and will be returning as often as possible. We asked and It's ok to bring wine in and they have wine glasses in the back. BTW, The Village Cafe, cc 1985-ish, formerly occupied the same site. Does anyone remember it?

No, Village Cafe was not a diner food place - far from it.
