Hi There,

Im looking for Chocolate Bacon in the San Diego city or county area? It sounds interesting and would love to try it. I know that Vosges has a bacon bar, but is there anywhere else I can find this?

Thanks!!

Not exactly what you are looking for but The Riviera Supper Club has Bacon Chocolate Cake, say's the vegetarian who would totally eat a piece, sans guilt, if placed in front of him...

    Didn't the Simpsons cover this?

    ***

Homer: "Dear lord, as I think of you dressed in white with your splendid beard, I am reminded of Colonel Sanders, who is now seated at your right hand, shoveling popcorn chicken into thy mouth. Lord, could you come up with a delicious news taste treat like he did? I command you."

[Homer closes his eyes and claps his hands, and his car swerves into oncoming traffic. A hot fudge truck overturns, flooding the road, and then a Johnny Bench's Pre-cooked Bacon truck smashes into it. A piece of fudge-coated bacon lands on Homer's windshield, and he grabs it and takes a bite.]

Homer Simpson: Mmmm. Move over, eggs. Bacon just got a new best friend — fudge.

Thanks! Will have to check it out! What about bacon cupcakes? I heard that a bakery in Hillcrest does it, but wasnt sure if it was a regular item or not.

I've had the Bacon chocolate, and thought it was wonderful (i am a bacon fiend like any true Chowhound haha), but it was given to me by a co-worker. The people that make it are called Vosges and they also make some other chocolates with chile peppers, etc...

Locally I have only seen their products at Cost Plus World Market but I haven't seen any of the bacon one there. You might ask a staff person.

Venissimo Cheese carries Vosges. Whole Foods in UTC does but they've been giving them less shelf space lately. :-(

Whole Foods in UTC has currently (at least yesterday when I bought one) a lot of Vosges (about 20 different selections, including the bacon one). They are close to the entrance.

Saw Vosges at Whole Foods in Hillcrest yesterday, near the gelato (which I see is now local)...never heard of Vosges before, so didn't notice the selection.

honkman, thanks for the heads up! Swung by the UTC Whole Foods this weekend and looks like they got a new shipment of Vosges since I was there last. Got a nice sampler for a hostess gift.

Bristol Farms also carries the Bacon chocolate bars -- I forget whether they are Vosges or somebody else's.

I think Eclipse Chocolate on El Cajon Blvd has something chocolate and bacon--might be a truffle or might have been a cupcake.
