[MSP] Mariucci Arena, Minneapolis

I'm sure they have concession stands at Mariucci... I wouldn't suppose there's anything either healthy or delicious (or, better yet, both) available?

  1. If the choices are similar to Williams Arena, then no. So go to Caspian Bistro beforehand.

Thank you, that's pretty much what my suspicion is. Unfortunately, I won't have time to have dinner anywhere beforehand, and, won't even really have time to pick something up in advance without a major ordeal. :( I just wondered if anyone knew what food was actually available in the Arena itself, or if I really really need to go out of my way to get something. Sounds like I might. Thank you!

    2. I hate to disallusion you, but I'm very doubtful of edible food at the Mariucci Arena. Not that I've ever been there, but...

Me, I'd smuggle in some delicious but not-really-healthy treats from nearby places like Cupcake, Keefer Court, or the afore-mentioned Caspian Bistro. If you *must* do healthy, swing by the new Seward Co-op (just across the river from the arena) for some organic fruit and full-fiber treats from their newly expanded deli.

Have a fun time at the game...

Smuggling sounds like it might have to be my best option. I was just hoping to be surprised by something remarkable. Thank you!

      2. It's been a while since I've been to a game, but I remember them having Famous Dave's carts. There were only a couple of them, so if you're not sitting close to one, you may have to walk a while. Go Gophers!

Go Gophers! While not healthy, Famous Dave's isn't a terrible choice from a deliciousness perspective, so that would make me happy enough. Do you happen to recall if they have the pulled pork sandwiches?

          1. re: The Dairy Queen

They did have the pulled pork sandwich, and that's what I ordered. But I should say that I haven't been there in over a year, so I apologize in advance if they no longer offer Famous Dave's. But I can't imagine why they wouldn't.

I believe they do, if I remember correctly.

You also can't go wrong with mini donuts and hot chocolate, my personal favorite Gopher hockey treats.

Shhhhh...don't say donuts. My husband might hear you.

But, the HOT CHOCOLATE sounds great!

          2. From the U's website. (Note it was updated on 8/3/07.

There is a number of concession stands located throughout Mariucci Arena. Snack Shack stands, which are operated by Aramark, are located in the concourse area in Sections 7-8, 18-19, and 13. A wide selection of food is available – ranging from hot dogs and nachos to pretzels, and much more. There is also a Maui Wowi stand located in Section 1, Papa John’s stand in Section 2, Dino’s in Sections 1 and 15, Subway in Sections 6 and 19, Famous Dave’s in Section 15, The Islands in Section 15, and a Kemps Ice Cream stand in Section 24.

Thank you for this! I swear I looked for about a half hour online before I made my post. You must be a search engine genius (or, I, a search engine goofball).

Funny, I remember the Dino's, now that I read it. This is very helpful, especially because it lists the sections.

                I'll just assume I'm a genius... ;-)

Hope it's still accurate for you.

                1. re: bob s

Thanks, Bob, for giving me the benefit of the doubt. I'll assume you're a genius, too. Everything was pretty much as I expected based on everyone's input. I saw the Maui Wowi, Dino's (which is what I had), Subway, Famous Dave's (which is what my date had), and Kemp's. I didn't notice the Islands, the hot chocolate or mini-donuts, but didn't seek them out, either.

The Papa John's seems to have been replaced by Palermo's. It didn't look like something that would rock my world, so I passed.
