Manhattan Clam Chowder?

I've been unsuccessful in looking for a recipe for Manhattan Clam Chowder using canned clams. Has anyone done this and liked the result?

Just dice and saute some onion, potato, celery, carrot, canned tomatoes and a pinch of thyme. Add the canned clams with their juice and extra clam juice if you need more liquid. Simmer till vegetables are done.

I use chicken broth and clam juice for Manhattan clam chowder. Not carrots. Otherwise it's pretty much how you do it. Some people use bacon at the beginning. At the end you can add some hot sauce. In the summer time I put some zucchini in it.

        Bacon is good.

Canned clams don't have the same texture and flavor. Might as well puree it if you are going to use it. but you can use any regular recipe that asks for fresh clams and substitute the same amount. I would use clam juice because you won't get any flavor from the canned clams. Clam juice is salty so don't add additional salt.
