Hey all! Me and my girlfriend are going to be staying in the International drive section near Universal in March and are going to do the whole Disney thing. We are wondering what of the "touristy" restaurants are the best bets, if Emeril's is worth it and if anything else in that area should be checked out.
Thanks for help!
If you're on I-drive, give Taverna Opa a try. It's good Greek food, and the atmosphere is raucous and rowdy -- you're encouraged to dance on the tabletops along with the belly dancer.
Emeril's Orlando can be good -- spotty the last couple of times I've eaten there -- but I've never had a good experience at Emeril's Tchoup Chop.
A surprise (for me anyway) is the improvement of the food and overall experience at Portobello (formerly Portobello Yacht Club) at Downtown Disney. I'll have a full review soon on my blog.
Welp, if you are looking for casual, there's the Orlando Ale House, which is right across from Universal on Kirkman Road. They are known for their casual atmosphere but high quality, large portion food at reasonable prices.
A step up is the Palm at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal... awesome prime rib... awesome mushrooms :)
And Bill Wong's chinese buffet right down the street at the intersection of KIrkman and International is worth a trip... it definitely qualifies as touristy!
Excellent breakfast location called LePeep, it's in a strip plaza on the corner of Kirkman and Vineland.
Well those are the touristy spots I'd think of right off the bat... if you want something with more local personality, it's hard to find in that area, but if you have a rental car its not a far drive. ALso, almost all of the DIsney resort hotels have excellent restaurants to check out for all price ranges.
