I eat at Melvin's on a fairly regular basis as I live about 10 minutes away. Melvin's is excellent. The burgers and hotdogs are made to order, and they make fast food look slow and boring. Often the line is out the door, but you'll be there in no time, just be ready when you get there. There are very few options on the menu. All the way means slaw, chili, mustard and onions. Options include cheese, ketchup and hot sauce. Cheese was only added to the menu recently. Side dishes are bagged chips or homemade cookies. That's it, and don't dally at the order spot or they'll skip you and go to the next person. The team is amazingly efficient and relatively intolerant of novice ordering. I've never had the hotdogs, but the hamburgers rock. They are small, so folks often get two. The meat is ground fresh across the street and they add a bit of bread to keep the patties moist. The place isn't fancy, but very busy and very worth it. Oh yeah, and don't sit down until you have your food, that's a no-no at Melvins!
I used to eat at Melvin's, when my family and I would stop in Elizabethtown on the way to the beach. It has been at least a year since I went there last, but I can definitely tell you that their hamburgers are very, very good. Don't count on anything fancy; it's simple but very tasty. If I made a list of the top 5 places I've ever had a burger, Melvin's would definitely be on it. Hope you at least try it, and let us know what you think. I'd be interested to see how good Melvin's still is these days.
