Dried, Shredded Tofu and Seitan

Any places around here that sell dried, shredded tofu (like pasta)? I read about it in a Washington Post article a while back. I've looked at local asian marts, wegman's and whole foods to no avail.

Also, my friend recommended 'seitan' to me. (Wheat Gluten 'Meat'), and was wondering if any place in Northern Virginia / Lower DC sells this?

I live in northern virginia and have no car, so any places local to fairfax country and metro accessible would be appreciated (no maryland please!)

  1. I've never seen dried shredded tofu, but I've seen fresh tofu noodles at MOM's. It's called Shiratake. I think they also have seitan and other meat substitutes.

Yeah, I've seen tofu noodles at Whole foods.
      What about dried tofu?

    2. I haven't seen dried shredded tofu, but seitan shouldn't be too hard to get your hands on. I know it's sold at YES Organic Markets. I don't know if there are any in Virgina, but there are a few in DC that are close to metro stops. Eastern Market, Cleveland Park and U Street, and Adams Morgan come to mind, and there are probably some other locations. I would think that Whole Foods carries it as well. Good luck!

      1. Not sure if this is what you're talking about, but check out

You can get seitan in any major grocery store these days. Whole Foods has the whole range of soy products. Seitan's not too hard to make yourself, either. Just Google.

        1. I found it at Whole Foods, but Wegmans actually had more of a selection!
