Vegan Friendly DC Restaurants for Carb Load! (pre-race meal)
Hello!
My friends and I are running the Cherry Blossom on April 5 and need to venture into DC on the 4th to pick up our running packets.
There are 2 vegans in the group so we are trying to find a good vegan friendly restaurant for our pre-race carb load!
Any ideas/suggestions??
teaism (multiple locations), and if you're willing to travel, vegetate.

For actual vegan places that have food non-vegans would enjoy:
Java Green is a vegan cafe, Asian style. Lots of noodles for carb loading. Crowded at lunchtime. If I understand the website, they're opening a new place in February. http://www.javagreencafe.com/
Sticky Fingers is a really good bakery, all-vegan -- some of the best, if not best, cakes (and other pastries) in DC. They close kind of early in the evening. Also have sandwiches, coffee, etc. http://www.stickyfingersbakery.com/
Asylum is a bar/club with a vegan menu, and especially popular vegan brunch, it's pretty fun. http://www.asylumdc.com/newHome.htm
I haven't been to Vegetate, but that might be a better bet if you want something more upscale.

I think teasism is great- lots of options for both vegans and meat eaters. nice decor and reasonable prices. I think the 9th st. location is the best. i usually get the veggie bento box, but there are lots of other vegan options.
i used to love asylum for brunch and went almost every weekend, but the food seems to be getting worse and worse. it's a fun bar though, and in adams morgan, so if you're looking for a place to go in that neighborhood that has something for the vegans, that could be an option. it's pretty standard bar food- burgers, fries, etc
enjoy the race!
