Stable Cafe's Cuban Sandwich?

Stable Cafe is mentioned in this thread in relation to Venga empanadas.

Apparently it sometimes has a cuban sandwich as a lunch special --- anyone tried it?

  1. I tried it about 2 months ago, my memory is a little hazy, but I remember it being dry and not particularly authentic. Not even close to the one out of the truck over by the Salvation Army (and yes, I know, that one's not necessarily authentic either).

Well that sounds particularly UNyummy. I do like the Cuban from the Goza Goza truck. Thanks for the warning.

    2. On a side note, I tried a cuban at Mortys in SF. It was very good, but very unauthentic. Served on a French Roll, not pressed. Kind of a dissapointment, but delicious at the same time. The pork was super tender and sweet, the ham added some nice texture and salt, the pickle's presence wasnt as forward as I would have liked it to be, but added some acid.

All in all, worth a try, but it should be named, roasted pork sandwich with ham and pickle.

        Thanks for the report.
