ISO English breakfast

Does anyone know of a place downtown to find a decent English style breakfast? Bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, toast, mushrooms, tomatoes. Many thanks.

  1. good question, the best I have come up with is the Globe Bistro on the Danforth and the King Eddy... the latter more for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon especially. would love to hear other suggestions! PJ O'Briens is ok, but I've yet to find somewhere that is up with a proper UK breakfast.

The KIng Eddy wasn't was I was thinking of, too sophisticated. I mean something more working class.

    2. Most ye olde English pubs. Local 4, Ben Wicks, House on Parliament.

      1. Pretty sure the George Street Diner has an English-style breakfast.

        1. Senator diner on Victoria near Dundas. Only slight drawback is they use the local mushy beans instead of the English Heinz beans, but the key for me is proper sausages. Not those tiny links most places have.

          1. The Irish Embassy does a great one. They call it an Irish Breakfast, but it's basically what you're looking for: eggs, strip bacon, back bacon, sausage, blood pudding, beans, homefries, fried tomato and toast. It was $12 when I had it last year sometime.

They've also started doing one on Saturday & Sunday mornings at the Liver Bird, the newish pub in the back of Boho Bistro on Roncesvalles, where they also screen the Premier League matches. I'm not sure how much it is on its own, but it's $20 for the breakfast and two pints. I haven't tried it myself, but the other food I've had there has been great.

Breakfast and two pints... what's not to love about that!

Would indeed set you up nicely for a brisk stroll then lunch...

The Irish Breakfast at Embassy is nasty and not at all the real deal. For that one must trek to Scarborough and go to the Tara Inn. I know I do.

Googs, what's the constituents? Do they serve soda/potato bread? thanks, you've got me interested :)

Eggs, rashers, sausage, soda bread, scones, black pudding, white pudding, fried tomato, homemade baked beans, and home fries (phew) yes all on the same plate and delightfully swimming in butter (puff, puff) all of it. Do not attempt if you're dieting or wish to appear dainty in front of the opposite sex. I suggest finishing with coffee with a shot of Bailey's. I'm fairly certain that in the Irish laws of physics the caffeine cancels out the alcohol.

I love the football special at Boho/Liverbird. They also offer free coffee before 11am with the special. You can have two pints or go for a 1 litre.

If a match is not on, you still still order it off the brunch menu.

I recommend this place to everyone. The staff are amazing. They pour your drink upon hello when you are a regular.

                3. My partner, indeed English, has the Full Monty at Edward Levesque's kitchen (admittedly not downtown). He did mention that there wasn't enough bacon...only 2 pieces.
