Fried Clams in March?
I'll be visiting the Boston area in late March and would love to get some fried clams. I don't mind a drive (i.e. to the North Shore, or somewhat south, although not as far as the Cape). Any suggestions?

The Clam Box in Ipswich is open in March (in fact, last time I was there, they said they were staying open all winter this year, although I don't know if they followed through on that because I think of clams as a seasonal thing) and is always worth the drive.
The original Kelly's on Revere Beach will be open, and they have perfectly fine clams, but given that March in Boston is the season of freezing cold winds that slice your face open, the idea of sitting on the boardwalk does not appeal.

I had a very nice fried clam app at the Summer Shack at Alewife this past Sunday lunch. Although I am most displeased to report that the meal over-all was disappointing. Cold 'sides', undercooked haddock (gross) with uninspired starchy stuffing.
I am a frequent defender of the Shack(s) here but I need to keep it real.
But the fried clams were good :).
