Road trip

Any recs for the road from L A to Mammoth and even more important - in Mammoth? Found very old threads in "California" but trust you all more!

    must stop in bishop would be jack's!
    once you are in mammoth...must dine is alpenrose.....place can compete with best of them anywhere! but catch is make sure that chef bryan doi is in the kitchen....call!
    another great place in mammoth is convict restaurant!

        I used to work at a place called Matsu 25 years ago. The original owners recently sold, maybe 2 or 3 years ago. I do not know if the food has stayed the say, really good teriyaki beef & chicken, bacon fried rice and other asian inspired dishes, great chinese chicken salad. The recipe for the dressing for Stanley's CCS was taken from this restaurant. I hope it is still as good.
