Buffalo Chix Wing Dip On Stovetop...

  • 3

So, I am hosting a little get together for some friends this weekend, for the Super Bowl, but we aren't doing it for the game, as none of us are sports fanatics (I doubt we will even watch the game...but hey, any excuse for food:) ) but, I have an issue. Being a college student means, no oven. Only a cheap stovetop and a microwave. But, I want to make Buffalo chicken wing dip...on the stovetop! (All of us are natives of the Buffalo area. So this is a party staple, and we are wanting desperately to make it!) So, do you think it's possible? I haven't been able to find any recipes for it on the stovetop, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could go about this? Thanks!!

  1. The classic buffalo sauce is just Texas Pete and margarine. That's easy enough to make on the stove.

If you are talking about a dip with chicken & such incorporated, I recommend starting with both cream cheese and bleu cheese. Heat on the stove. Add your favorite hot sauce (I'm a fan of either sriracha or chipotle) and pulled/shredded chicken. Fresh chives or scallions are a nice touch. I also use fresh ground pepper. No salt needed. Amounts are all to taste.

    1. If you're talking about Bonnie's Buffalo Chicken Dip, I think you can probably do it all in the microwave. Here's the recipe:

I'd warm each component, layer in a glass pan, then put cheese on top and microwave on lower power till the cheese melts and everything is hot.

Sounds like the perfect thing for a college student! I think I will warm the components in a pan, layer, and then melt the cheese in the microwave like you suggested:) Thanks so much!
