  1. The following are some of the best bitters available.

I think you can order direct from the Fee Brothers by phone their whole line of products including nine types of bitters.
    (800) 961-FEES.

You can order direct online from The Bitter Truth their whole product line of six types of bitters.

You can order Regan's Orange bitters and Peychauds bitters online direct from Buffalo Trace.

Amazon sells all sorts of bitters (fee bros, peychauds, etc)

      1. re: jgg13

their direct source is actually . I'm not sure ordering directly or indirectly merits any advantage.

        1. re: Icantread

Yeah, since they don't count towards the super saving shipping @ amazon, the only advantage would be the one stop shopping effect of amazon I guess. I tend to buy a bunch of random stuff at once, so don't always notice the original sellers there :)

          1. re: Icantread

I ordered from Kegworks via Amazon over the holidays and was very pleased with the selection and the shipping. Good stuff. Rhubarb bitters...who knew?

            1. re: ccbweb

the one thing I can say is that both times I ordered from them, the items arrived before the beginning of the estimated date range.

              1. re: ccbweb

I wish I had known! I just found this thread after falling in LOVE w/ Fee Bros rhubarb bitters I found in a local hipster market. Rhubarb bitters, Blenheim's hot ginger beer, bourbon and ice is the drink at my house this season!

            2. re: jgg13

I'll second Amazon. They have a pretty good selection

            3. re: JMF

Do people like fee brothers or scrappy's better? I am new to botters but drawn to them! I want to try all, but chocolate, lavendar, rhubarb, cardamom, root beer as very intriguing! Anyone care to share their favorite bitters and favorite recipes?

              1. re: christyar

Fee Brothers has excellent customer service. I haven't dealt with Scrappy's.

            4. Since you are in NYC you should get over to Lenells in Redhook. She has a full line of hard to get bitters.

ahhhh!!! only 16 more days til lenells closes?

                    1. re: cockscomb

Yep, it's official. I got an email from Lenell the other day confirming that she is shutting down at the end of the month.

              1. The Meadow ( has the largest variety I've seen anywhere, and I've never had trouble with my orders.

                1. re: ssn1139

The problem with The Meadows is they severely overcharge. When a normal retail price is $18 for lets say Bittermens or Dutch's,The Meadows charges $26. heck, they charge $12 for a 4 oz bottle of Angostura, which runs $6.49 at my local supermarket.

So the place is a total ripoff!

The best online place, with a great selection is

                  1. re: JMF

The Boston Shaker has most of what the Meadow offers, but at much more reasonable prices:

The Boston Shaker is a great shop which happens to be walking (ok, long walking) distance from my house. Adam is friendly and knowledgeable. JMF- Maybe send some samples his way?

+1 for Boston Shaker, i have placed several orders through them and they have always been really helpful

sometimes the shipping price gets screwed up on their website if you are making a large order so just email them your list and then they will price out the shipping for you

had a dropper break during shipping and they replaced it no questions asked

and i am on the west coast, so certainly not walking distance for me

I really like the Boston Hemispherical Rhubarb bitters

                          1. re: christyar

I will refer to the professionals in this case, i have subbed it in for angostura and been happy with the results (with bourbon drinks) and just added some drops to other drinks and been happy as well

I have not tested it enough with a side by side enviroment to say i like it with this drink "the best" but it has enhanced enough drinks enough for me to gladly recommend it

                        2. re: Wahooty

Another big fan for Boston Shaker and Adam - he keeps a wide range in stock with well-informed and friendly staff as well at fair prices - we are very lucky to have this source in the Boston area and the website is quite good as well!
