STEAMED Char Siu Bao

Hounds, I am seriously addicted to char siu bao, the steamed variety. I can get them at dim sum places (I usually go to China Pearl) but for take out at bakeries....there only seems to be the baked variety. For some reason steamed gai bao is readily available, but not char siu bao. Anybody know of a source??

    Why don't you just order take-out from one of the dim sum restaurants? If you are close to Allston, pick them up at Gitlo's.

      i assume you've tried Eldo and Hing SHing bakeries? I thought i saw them in there

        Yeah, a lot of bakeries may not have them for display, but often sell them, so it's worth asking, especially if you like their baked variety and the filling is to your liking.

          If you like baking, try making them yourself - see recipe on my blog http://recipes4mydaughters.blogspot.c...
          I keep a batch in the freezer, then microwave for a minute for a hot, fresh bao.
