OC dining itinerary: Olamendi's (Dana Point) or Coyote Grill? Sunset hotel drinks?

I'm staying at the St. Regis for an upcoming very short trip. From chowhound research this is what I'm thinking for our time in OC, trying to get a good mix casual/nicer and take in the scenery:

-lunch on the way down from LA at Beachcomber Cafe at Crystal Cove

- after checking in, sunset drinks at either our hotel (would this be at the Monarch Bay Club at the beach, which I guess we take a shuttle to?) Would these places be equally suitable for drinks and maybe an appetizer? I'd prefer to stay at home base that first day, but I don't want to miss out on taking in LB/Montage

-dinner at Stonehill Tavern

-breakfast at the hotel (Motif I guess is where this happens?)

-casual lunch (or brunch depending on when we wake up) at either Olamendi's in DP or Coyote Grill in Laguna. Olamendi's history intrigues me, plus would give us the chance to trek down the coast (we will have come from LA where we'll be 2 days also). I've never eaten a fish taco, always joke that I'm waiting to go to Southern California to have my first, so I guess this would be my chance?

-we attend a wedding late that afternoon/evening, so I guess that's it for our time to dine alone... unless we catch a very early breakfast out of town back to LA the next am for late morning flight (will likely just do breakfast at hotel again)

Overwhelming!! So much to eat, so little time! I'd love suggestions/critiques of this plan!!!

  1. I'd recommend Olamendi's over Coyote Grill for lunch, though vice versa for breakfast. I've ate mostly everything at Olamendi's (great Mole), but have never had their fish tacos.

    1. Olamendi's for sure!!!!! I live in Vegas now, but I sure do miss Olamendi's. It is a great place.
