Castle Hill replacement

I always ate at Castle Hill when I came to Austin, but I understand they're closed. Is there another restaurant that is similar? Great value, especially on the wine list and contemporary American food? I'm really going to miss it, but there must be another.

Maybe Mirabelle. The same people as Castle Hill started them both but I don't know how it may have changed in the past few years. For some reason, I haven't been in a long time. I really did like the place a lot though.

I would second this, with one caveat. We ate there recently and the menu is very similar to the old Castle Hill. We ordered a bottle of reasonably priced wine. After checking and seeing that they were out of our selection, the waiter recommended another bottle. Come to find out when we received our bill that it cost twice as much as our original choice. Shame on us for not asking, but still. I'll go back for the food, but will be more diligent in on wine price in the future.

Me and the wife had our annual MLK day lunch at Mirabelle this year. It was delicious; I started with a cup of gumbo and a small southwestern caesar salad. For lunch I had the enchiladas suizas which never disappoint. A hibiscus iced tea. Mrs. B had one of their salads and loved it. No room for dessert!
