Neptune Room closed!

Passed by the Neptune Room (Amsterdam & 84th/85th) and saw that it was closed. A note said that the kitchen was being renovated. Do any of you have inside information as to whether it will, in fact, reopen?

My husband and I were so looking forward to the $1 oysters last night. It has been our treat to ourselves a couple of times a month, at Neptune A dinner of the oysters, with a glass of wine, has been such a pleasant and affordable experience, in that quiet, peaceful, attractive room. When we arrived last night to find it closed we were really sad. The sign said the kitchen was being renovated, but I do think it is probably gone for good.
Instead, we made our way a couple of blocks south to our standby, go-to restaurant, HiLife. A very different experience, though always tasty choices.

This has been the case for a few months. The space is on the market. I seem to remember the owners have gone on record that if they keep the space it won't be back as The Neptune Room, but maybe more like Jane or The Smith

Too bad. I thought it was one of the most pleasant restaurants in the area, and the fish was wonderfully fresh.
