Best french fries in Hartford area?

I am new to the Hartford area and I can't seem to find the best french fries in the area. They are my favorite food and I am dying for a good batch. Any suggestions? I live in West Hartford, but would go anywhere within reason!

Good question! Hmmm. I'm a big fan of fries too. My favorites are found at 5 Guys burgers and fries (they're made fresh and they actually taste like potato, fancy that!). The locations nearest to you would be on Route 6 in Farmington and on Route 44 in Avon. (their burgers are also pretty dang good too)
My other favorites are at Saint's in Plainville. I like theirs because they're brown and crisp and I've been told that folks who can't eat wheat can eat them there because they don't fry any of their batter dipped stuff in the same oil as the fries.

The very best fries I've had were at a place I'm willing to travel (within reason) to-and they are located at Pommes Frites on 123 2nd Ave NYC. Belgian double cooked fries with a million toppings.

Let us all know how you fare in your fry quest.

Should have tried Rosco's before they closed. Super Duper Weenie exit 24 off I-95 (Black Rock Turnpike). Does fries the same way Rosco's used to.

Big +1 to 5 Guys fries, I'm really lucky they aren't closer to where I live or I'd probably weigh 400 pounds. They travel very well, and come out awesome even after being put in the fridge for a few hours and reheated in the oven.

I tried Saint's for the first time a few weeks ago, and really liked the chili dogs. Wish there was a little more spice in their sauce, but that was fixed with a few squirts of Frank's Red Hot. The fries don't travel nearly as well as 5 Guys, they got a bit soggy by the time I got home. Next time I'll ask for well done.

Alas, before the passing of Pastis in Hartford a couple of years back, they were the hands down winner, carefully double fried,... perfection and when matched with the Muscles, YUMMM! Given that, 5 guys are certainly contenders for the best, although my arteries can only tolerate a trip per year! At risk of being strongly chastised, a good fresh McDonalds fry from a clean well run McD's (good luck finding one of those around Hartford) is still a pretty good fry.
