Christys Westbrook, CT

Christys in Westbrook is known for great breakfasts at very reasonable prices; they also serve lunch and dinner.
My wife and I stopped in for dinner last Friday after watching an early screening of Frost/Nixon.We ordered spaghhetti and meatballs and fish and chips - both dinner specials.
The spaghetti was done al dente and the sauce was tasty. Unfortunately, I cut into the meatballs and found them bright red (i.e., raw) and refrigerator cold.Kind've disgusting. The tilapia was also not up to par and tasted as though it was well beyond fresh. So we struck out entirely. The waitress offered to have the dinners replaced, but we had lost our appetites.
Based on this experience, I will continue as a breakfast-only patron.

  1. I agree completely. After eating breakfast here many times ( and enjoying it each time), my wife and I decided to try dinner one night. Not horrible, but just OK. No comparison at all to their breakfasts. Have you tried their apple oatmeal pancakes? Superb.

    1. We stopped in for what was either a very late lunch or an early supper. We went with a burger and a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. They both tasted good, but what struck us was that both the sandwich and side portions were very generous, almost enough for a den of cubscouts. Sweet potato fries were very good. The noise level was a little high and the one waitress was kept quite busy. They have recently remodelled and installed a cappucino bar. Only negative point was that the credit card processor was on the blink.

I usually make my own breakfasts, but after reading the extensive designer pancake menu I can see I'm going to have to go out for a morning meal soon.
