Wood Smoked Slab Bacon ?

I'm on the search for slab (unsliced) applewood hickory smoked bacon preferably in the metro west/Framingham area. Need to slice it very thick on my own deli slicer for some peppered bacon jerky I'm making this week.

I checked BJ's with no luck and same for the normal supermarkets. We don't have a surplus of butchers out here so I'm open to tips.

  1. Try either Dakin Farm or Harrington's in Vermont (mail order0. I can sometimes get it at Butcher Boy in North Andover. Also, oddly enough, Wal-mart sometimes has Southern style bacon and hams available.

      Thanks...Harrington a great suggestion...I'm up near Manchester every weekend.

    2. Karl's has their own awesome slab bacon single and double smoked. It is awesome.

        Sounds worth the drive....from what I hear Angela's Pizza is a must stop while on a field trip in that neighborhood as well ?

          If you're gonna hit East Boston there is a ton of food to try, Angela's, Rincon Limeno, heck Mittahpheap up in Lynn... that neck of the woods is a chow goldmine.

      2. Roche Brothers sells Schaller & Weber uncut double smoked bacon in a slab. Look in the cheese case.

        2. It's not as close as some of the other places that have been suggested, but Formaggio's house-smoked bacon is excellent and available in slabs. They have several varieties of bacon and they're all available in slabs.

          1. My source for ham and bacon -- RM Felts, Ivor Va, 757-859-6231 - no website --- you have to call. nice people, wholesale prices, quickdelivery via Fed Ex ground.
            A slab of bacon will be no more per lb than what you would pay for Oscar Myer at the grocery even with shipping. They will even slice it for you.

            This stuff is so good all you need to do it throw in on the griddle.... Bacon jerky ???

                striper, yes, country ham... just awesome, I'm still working on one I did at Xmas.

                Yea, dehydrated a batch last night using traditional thick sliced Bacon from BJ's seasoned with crushed black pepper and chipote powder. VERY intense bacon flavor but not convinced it's worth the 14 hours it took it to dehydrate.
