Stove-top chili in a crock pot?

I have a great chili recipe that I make in a pot. Could I take the same recipe and make it in a crock pot? Would I need to make any changes? Brown the meat in a pan first... and then everything usually just goes in the pot. Same thing for the crock pot?

You may want to make a couple of minor adjustments, like reducing the amount of liquid (less gets lost to evaporation) and extending the cooking time. So it may behoove you to hang around, sample the stuff, and fiddle with the recipe the first time you make it in the crock pot. But you should be able to get very similar results. And if you remember what you changed, you can cook your chili unattended in the future.

your spices will intensify in the slow cooker too, so you may want to cut down on heat, if that is a concern. you can always add it all or some of it in the last hour of cooking.
