Sarasota Area- anything special?

Hello friends,

I live in San Diego, CA but I'll be here in Sarasota for the next two months for work. While I'm accustomed to a very diverse set of choices for food, ethnic and otherwise, this is my third season here and I've found the gastronomic situation a bit more limited on this west coast than on my west coast. Don't get me wrong- lots of great food here (particularly for Italian: Mediterraneo and the pizza by Beppe at Cafe Epicure), but always interested in diamonds in the rough and places that are not a part of the usual parade like SKOB et al. I did read up on the weekend chef at the Serving Spoon- I'll have to make a trip. Particularly interested in having some decent medianoches or ropa vieja. Looking forward to your tips.

Ceviche has it all. Very good Tappas & Great Atmosphere!! first two levels dining and bar. 4th level bar and live music and roof top bar.
For a diamond in the rough a must visit is Pho Cali on Main Street two buildings east of El Greco on the same side. Excellent Vietnamese food!!! Open for lunch and dinner except on Sundays! Do miss this one
