They did, in fact, have imported culatello di zibello in December but have not had it for a while. They promise they are on the (smuggler's?) list to get in some more. Until then I had to placate my urges with domestic culatello, hot cappicola, arista roasted proscuitto and coppa di testa-the Italian version of headcheese or as I like to call it -the "Frankenstein of ham". They promised to e-mail me when the zibello clears customs (one way or another). I ain't tellin' anyone until I get me a couple of pounds first.
Went for dinner with Mrs. GG. Had 2 huge plates of 33 month old hand sliced proscuitto di parma, domestic culatello, guanciale, bresaola, finocchiona salame, porchetta, coppa, burrata, gorgonzola dolci, short rib, pork belly, leeks/pancetta/parmesan tartes and amazing bread pudding for dessert with a nice Sicilian Nero d'Avola. I shall return.
