Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale

hipster South Beach

my hubby and i are spending the weekend in sobe next month and are looking for suggestions on places to eat. we are staying at the gansevoort.
obviously we want good food, but just as important is that they have a good scene. we don't want quiet, romantic type places but upbeat fun and good people watching. the see and be seen type scene. we like to drink so good cocktails is a plus. done a little research and have heard about table 8, social miami, o asian grille, social miami... any of those good?

also as for going out...what are the best places for fri, sat, sun nights? we like both chill loungey type places and clubs too.

  1. Asia de Cuba on Friday - stay at mondrian for the party - go to set afterwards if you want to be out till 4am.
Scarpetta Saturday - Go to liv -- both at founainbleu (not south beach but on 44th st)
Sunday night - Raleigh - no really cool place to eat maybe the standard (a few blocks off south beach) qualifies and I heard they have a good scene in the afternoon/early evening on sunday.

Your hotel has a good scene too on the rooftop bar but their best night is thursday.

    1. I am pretty sure Social Miami has shut down --

      You can try:

      Prime 112
      Nobu
      Scarpetta
      Asia de Cuba

You can also try out Meat Market -- its very popular as of late.

      2. O shut down a while ago too. T's and Sobe's suggestions are good. Just remember there's few hipsters in South Beach - they're vastly outnumbered by poseurs and tourists.

          I resemble that remark :).

        2. Hubby and I are staying at the same in Sobe in March. Sounds like we're looking or the same type weekend. Hope you'll post your review of your weekend when you get back. Enjoy the "wildlife".

          1. thanks for all the replies. can't wait to try them out. please keep suggestions coming...
