Ichiban Sushi Buffet - Georgetown

Took my on to the new place in Georgetown, in the Bealls shopping center.

I was really impressed with the Sushi selection. Not only was the ngiri sushi selection fine (9-10 different ones), there were at least 6 different sashimi, including tuna, salmon and mackerel. The mackerel was just astonishingly good. Only beef was that the sashimi was directly on ice, so some pieces were a little watterlogged. There was a small selection of Chinese food (we didn't touch it, but it looked OK), a very small Mongolian BBQ selection (some poeple near us seemed to enjoy it).

The roll section wa outstanding. They were a little heavy on the cream cheese based rolls (this is Gtown after all), but lots of nice spicy pieces as well. Dinner is $17 for adults, $10 for kids, lunch is $10 I believe.

I have no idea how they'll be able to maintain the quality and price. And there are some problems with service at other tables (the couple were trying to determine where the house wine came from and the waitress kept repeating there wasn't a bartender). But all in all, for middle class sushi (fresh but not necessarily imaginative and not expensive it worked for me.

I think hnewburn is referring to the place on Rivery Blvd, just off 35? If that's the one, it's in the same complex with a Subway and a Cici's Pizza

Its very great. i love it.

        1. Chinese buffet quality sushi with less than Chinese buffet quality Chinese food. Most of the rolls are either deep fried or have mayonnaise or tuna-textured meat in them, and look like they have been sitting out for a while

I checked my bank statement and they overcharged me by $10. Not worth it.

          1. Wow! What a treat. I've been a sushi lover for years and this place is really good. We went for lunch and the prices were unbelieveable. They have a great selection and the sushi was very fresh. I also enjoyed a little Chinese food. I'm taking my son who is about to turn 12 for his birthday - he'll love it!

            1. It shocks me that anyone would refer to this place as good much less decent. The sushi here is not good. Its watery and the tuna is the kind that is pepto pink. Also the rolls are tiny and they pretty much all the same. Yes, the chinese food is good and the soup is awesome. But I thought this was a sushi place? Wasn't impressed at all.

              1. i havent been back since jan but by the posts it seems to have went down in quality.

I have been going to Ichiban for years and even though it’s now under new ownership, it’s still pretty good. It’s somewhat pricey at dinner; lunch time is the best time to go. I love their sushi lunch specials. They come with a few pieces of nigiri sushi, a roll of your choice and a hand roll as well for about $9. The sushi tastes good, especially their tuna. My mom used to get the Hibachi. I think their serving sizes are large, and they are less expensive. I like the decor as well. The chefs are making fresh tuna, salmon and mackeral for me, my mom said it is worthy and pricy to spend around $30 rather than other restaurant for $90. The different cakes and desert are full of our stomach perfectly, esp.Green Tea Icecream is my favourite

today my friend and I went there again, we only spent around $15 for a lunch time including hibachi and some desert. My friend didn't have sushi, but he still enjoyed Asian food like fried egg rice and noodles with king prawns.....This is the first day since they had further reduction on price. Anyway worth for try.
