I going to Scarpetta for the first time and am trying to gauge how much to order. After doing extensive research, I've identified one primo (short ribs), one pasta (spaghetti with tomato sauce) and one secondo (black cod) that I would like to order. I have a decent size appetite, but it is not prodigious. Would all three of these dishes be too ambitious an order for one meal?

Thanks in advance.

My personal opinion: yes. I feel like their portions work if you maybe get 5 things for 2 people-- and even that's pushing it. I've read people say they get 2 primi, 2 pastas and one secundo, or 2 primi, 1 pasta, 2 secondi, etc.

Your mileage may vary, but I would think one of each course for one person would be too much food.

that's a lot of food...you'd have to be really starving to finish it all...especially because the eggplant-caponata/bread/etc they give you to nibble on is yummy too, and you'll prob drink a glass or two of wine...

i suppose you could take half of the black cod home and have a tasty midnight snack in your refrigerator...alternately, if eating at the bar, you could share w/ the person next to you: i was there once when the person next to me shared her beet salad w/ me, and i was very grateful...otherwise, i'd say nix one of the first two dishes on your list...

For one person, I agree that this would be too much, and I assume that you are intending to dine alone. Since Scarpetta will not serve half portions of pasta, it seems you will have to choose between the app and pasta. If you have a dining companion, you could share the first course or the pasta. My personal opinion is if you have to choose between appetizer and pasta, take the appetizer.
