Lingnan Restaurant-E'ton

I've been watching Family Restaurant on Food Network and this season they're featuring a chinese restaurant in Edmonton called Lingnan. Just curious how the food is. From the show and menu, it looks like it's westernized chinese food more than anything. What are your thought?

From seeing a recent promotional television appearance by Miles(the oldest son) for the Family Restaurant series, he says the Lingnan restaurant have recently introduced authentic Chinese dishes to their Lingnan meuu. Curious, if these authentic Chinese dishes are good, & what are these new dishes?

I tried it a couple of times when I lived closer to it. Nothing special...just the typical Edmonton mediocre "chinese" food. Maybe one of the better ones, but still not worth bothering with.

Show also seems pretty boring compared to the Koutouki family.

I agree and after watching three episodes I'm not sold on it. I want to like it, even more so as an Edmontonian, but they aren't winning me over.

LOL, I was wondering the same thing, just did a search this morning if there was anything on here about it.

There are btw, a few mentions of the place on the boards here if you do a search, mixed reviews but maybe the show will attract more customers and reviewers.

It is indeed fairly westernized cantonese. But very, very good for that style. Some of the dishes are less westernized, but you may have to ask for them. We always request a spicy eggplant and pork dish not normally on the menu, and it's fabulous. The hot and dry chicken is also a favourite treat.
