L.A. Organic Vegetable Express
The topic of "delivered organics" has come up before but I've not seen this group mentioned.
Has/does anyone have any experience or thoughts ?
Thanks.

We took a turn at their delivery a year or so ago - as I remember for $25 we received three zuccini, a head of romaine, a few green beans, and a couple of fruits - truly this was the most skimpy offering possible. A trip to Whole Foods bought four times that. I called to cancel and was charged a pro rate charge for the next week.

Well. I've been going to the Better Life Organic Produce at 1206 East Sixth Street, Los Angeles CA 90021. It's not delivery but, it's a lot of bang for the buck.
They don't deliver because they are a wholesaler, but they are willing to sell retail for bulk orders. (If you're looking for a huge box of organic fuji apples, or carrots, something along those lines...)
I get their mescal salad mix for $9 for 3 pounds and it's the best stuff on earth. Puts Whole Foods to shame.

Great tip, esp. for those of us who live on the east side. Now maybe we could put together a coop....

I have been having my fruits and vegetables delivered by L.O.V.E. for several months now and I really like the service. I have not comparison shopped item by item to find out if I could get the same amount of organic produce for the money, by shopping on my own, but I feel the delivery service is well worth it (husband and I both work long hours). We get the $25 box delivered every other wk (1/2 fruit, 1/2 vegetable). I know that I can drop way more than $25 on 1 trip to the farmer's mkt and some of that will go to waste. Since using the L.O.V.E. service, we seem to eat just about everything we get, w/ little waste.
The quality of the produce has been great. I love getting apples, cucumbers, etc, that are not coated in wax. We get a good variety, but it's seasonal, so some things do repeat often. Have gotten wonderful berries and other "high end" items, so I have been under the impression that it's a pretty good deal. Nice salad mix, artichokes, squash, berries, apples, pears, dates, different kinds of beans, greens, bananas, different varieties of mushrooms, etc, etc. I look forward to coming home on my delivery day, to see what we got.
Anway, at least 1 happy customer here. I would recommend trying it. If it's not right for you, you can always cancel.
