I'm looking for a a nice place to go with 14 of my closest friends for my birthday in San Diego. I don't want to go to a chain and was hoping to find some place in Hillcrest or Northpark that could accommodate such a group. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What sort of budget are you looking for. Do you want one long table or a private room?

I'm looking for something that would have entrees in the $20 or under range. It doesn't have to be a private room, just something where we could sit somewhat near each other.

Have you thought about Mandarin Dynasty in Hillcrest. I am sure that the owner, Randy, could probably help you design your own Chinese Feast type of menu that all of your friends will enjoy. Afterward you could them go bar hopping allong University Avenue.

Cafe 11 also offers a prefixe meal for 14.95 pp. They have indoor and outdoor dining, the food and service are always excellent. If you pick the day they offer the prefixe, you and your friends will have a great time. Tax and tip on $15 is about $23.

That should bring you in on target. They could probably give you your own space as well.

        Good Luck
