My Dad loves authentic culinary adventure so am planning on taking him to Queens or Brooklyn on Sunday for Chinese. Looking for great Dim Sum for lunch and then want to go to markets for ingredients to make a Chinese dinner at home. Any recommendations for the best outer borough chinatown and specific places to go would be greatly appreciated!

there are numerous threads on here on dim sum in flushing queens.
But as most will agree, Jade Asian is you're best bet. I love it and i personally believe it blows the others away.
its where delicious gum fung used to be and lives up to it too

And there's a Hong Kong Supermarket one block north where you could do your food shopping.
